Sustainability Pledge

Sustainability is a big part of our company philosophy. But we’re realists and know that building a sustainable and profitable business is hard. It takes time and perseverance, so it’s important we share our progress with our community along the way.

We like to think of it as a living commitment that grows and evolves with Numi. Our aim is to develop beautiful, sustainable and practical products that inspire people to shop more sustainably without sacrificing style or effectiveness. Our long-term ambition is to build a successful business model that is both profitable and has a positive impact on the wider world.

Our ultimate goal is to build a circular business model:

‣ We prioritize sustainability over simply maximizing profit or cutting costs to the detriment of our impact.

‣ We will redesign and restructure products and systems to meet our long-term sustainability goals.

We will share our progress, challenges, and learnings along the way as we continue to audit and improve our practices.

Where We Are

81 lbs

The average person in North America throws away 81 pounds of textiles annually. And 73% of clothing ends up in land fills. Our undershirt collection is designed to extend the life of clothes, and reduce clothing waste.

2,700 litres

One cotton t-shirt uses 2,700 litres of water. Or enough drinking water to sustain one human for three years. Our undershirts are made from sustainable TENCEL™ which is processed in a closed-loop facility. This process recycles water and reuses the solvent at a recovery rate of more than 99%.

10%

The fashion industry is responsible for 10 % of annual global carbon emissions, more than all international flights and maritime shipping combined. We manufacture our whole garment, from knitting and dying our yarns to sewing our garments, locally in Toronto, Canada to minimize our shipping impact.
