What I’m Reading: The Burkini Ban
We all choose to wear different beach attire, just like some of us prefer to wear long layers in summer instead of opting for shorts and mini skirts. With different health issues or skin irritation’s some even have to stay covered up while at the beach, as some sport their bikini’s and full pieces taking in the sun.
On Tuesday, four officers in France forced a woman on the beach to remove layers of her clothing. She was on a beach in Southern France, wearing a Burkini when the officers approached her as France continues to ban certain Islamic clothing.
Women are coming together to stand up against the Burkini Ban in France as well as the never ending issues regarding a women’s choice of clothing. In London a group of ladies created a beach outside the French Embassy, wearing a diverse range of beach attire.
They focused their protest on the idea that women should be free and able to wear what they want, using the hashtag #LetThemWearWhatTheyWant
Life Changer Hack: Get Rid of Your Shower Grime in Seconds
As soon as we read “refresh your shower in seconds” via popsugar we had to give it a try, and let me tell you it did not disappoint.
- Head to your local dollar store and pick up one of those sponges with the refillable handles.
- Get: 1 tbsp. dish soap, 1/4 C vinegar and your favourite essential oil (we went with lavender)
- Add all of these to the handle (with a few drops of your oil) and fill the rest with water
- Hang the sponge in the shower and give it a little scrub next time before you hop in. While the shower is warming up it will rinse away the soap and grime!
Just like that you will have a sparkling new shower that not only looks great, but smells amazing too!

People Doing Good: CNE says “We Don’t Care”
This year at the CNE ( an outdoor exhibition) the outdoor bathrooms got an update, because when you have to go, you have to go! While there always seems to be lines at the women’s bathrooms but never at the men’s this is a practical solution for the CNE in more ways than one.
However, the ungendered bathrooms isn’t what is turning heads. Instead the signage they have marking the stalls is having people second glance. Using the bold statement “We don’t care” written below the gender image of a half man half woman.
The signs allow the user to clearly see that the bathrooms are ungendered and that anyone can go in. Could the bold statement also be pointing some fingers to some of the bathroom controversial that we have had this year?
Happy Friday
