When events call for 'Business Casual', the list of questions that come to mind in regards to what we can wear seems never ending. Is dark denim acceptable? Do I need a jacket layered over this blouse? Is a heeled boot okay?

To make your next 'Business Casual' event less stressful we have some do's and don'ts to keep in mind!

Do

Keep at least one element from your daily work wardrobe. (ie. Trouser, button down shirt, blazer, wool skirt etc.)

Don't

Wear your weekend casual sneakers to work, instead opt for a loafer or oxford. Both are flat and can be just as comfy as a sneaker, without the weekend wear.

Do

Add some personality to your outfit. This is the time when you can get away with a bit more colour or print in your wardrobe. However, don't overdo it. Stick to 1 focal piece and use neutrals to complement the others.

Don't

Go sleeveless. If you wear a sleeveless top or dress, layer a lightweight jacket or cardigan on top.

Do

Steam or iron your outfit. Just because they hinted at the word casual, it's no excuse for wrinkles and creases in your clothes.

Don't

Be afraid to trade in the crisp white button down for something else. Try a flowy fabric like silk or chiffon, or chambray for a more casual look with a suit trouser. Or swap the button down for a tee and structured jacket or a loose fitting blouse instead.
