How to remove coffee stains!

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good cold brew or a hot cup of coffee in the morning, but what happens when you spill a little on your beloved silk blouse or rayon trousers? That light brown liquid stain can be super difficult to remove, but no worries!

Here are 6 tips to help your clothing care and to remove those blemishes.

If the stain has been present for a while, you might have to soak the clothing first and then you multiple common household items to help remove it, but if it’s a fresh stain some cold water might be enough! Run the cold water through the back of the stain for 10 to 15 minutes or until the water is completely clear and the stain is removed.

 You can also use liquid laundry detergent or liquid dish soap. Rub the stained fabric with the liquid and your thumb in five-minute increments and soak the fabric in warm water before rinsing.

If all of those don’t work, it may be wise to try a mixture of powdered detergent, vinegar, and water. Use equal parts (maybe a cup of each) and turn it into a paste. Make sure you test it on the garment ensuring it doesn’t discolor the fabric! Use a toothbrush to scrub the stained area and then rinse thoroughly. 

If all of those don’t work, an interesting alternative is shaving cream! It contains ingredients such as surfactants and cleansing agents that might just do the trick. All you have to do is rub the cream on the surface of the stain and then rinse with water. 

Toothpaste has an exfoliating effect that can be used to get rid of coffee stains. Make sure to use white toothpaste and just use a toothbrush to lightly brush the toothpaste on to the fabric and then rinse!
